An EA rod licence is always required. Between Allington Lock and Maidstone (on toward East Farleigh) the river is widely treated as free fishing. Club day tickets matter further upstream — Barming, Teston, Yalding and beyond — where Maidstone Victory Angling Society controls long beats.
